It should all be back working again now but if you do spot anything I’ve overlooked feel free to use the contact form and let me know.

I’m about to head off for a few days to Istanbul, Turkey. Hopefully with the weather we’ve had over the last few days I’ll still be able to get there so look out for some new images in the new year.

So all that remains is for me to wish you all happy holidays wherever you are and whatever you’re doing and I hope 2010 is full of perfect photography moments for you!

Every now and then, usually when I’ve returned from my travels, I tend to add a new image as a header for the blog. However until recently the image only changed when you refreshed the page. Believe it or not there’s 20 images now and so I thought it was about time some of them got a bit more exposure.

So from today, when you visit the site, the header will slowly cycle through all available images in a sort of mini-slideshow. Hopefully this should be working for everyone. If you’re having problems with this new bit of functionality please let me know. Otherwise, enjoy the images!

Wow – I just realised that my blog is two years old this month, and still going strong!

In celebration of this fact I thought I would post some interesting numbers for you (after all my day job is in web analytics!):

In those two years I’ve published over 180 posts which is an average of one every 4 days

I get over 1,000 visits from around 900 unique visitors per month

The majority of people are from the US with the UK a close second

4/5 of the traffic is referred from elsewhere – referring sites or search engines split pretty evenly between the two

By far the most commonly used phrase on search referrals is “EOS 1000D” (I guess that article performs well for SEO!) but in the last few months “lightroom keywords” has climbed rapidly

Unsurprisingly, the most popular content on the site is my Lightroom Keyword Lists

I write most about Lightroom followed by equipment, and then “how to” articles elsewhere on the web

I’ve mentioned Canon in 21 posts, Nikon in 7 posts but Lightroom in 40 posts and I’ve written 10 posts on police harassment of photographers

So thanks to everyone that’s visited and the comments you’ve left, and here’s to another 2 years!

A photographer from a Birmingham-based photographic agency has raised a complaint with West Midlands Police following an incident in which he says a police officer forced him to delete images from his memory card. The website for Editorial Photographers in the UK and Ireland reports that Lawrence Looi, who has been a staff photographer with a news agency for the last three years, was covering a protest on public roads outside the International Conference Centre in Birmingham on Thursday morning when he was approached by a police constable who held Looi by the upper arm and asked him to delete any photographs that had been taken of police officers. The officer also asked Looi to identify himself, but refused an offer to see Looi’s NPA-issued National Press Card.

The National Union of Journalists (NUJ) in the UK has decided to stage a protest outside New Scotland Yard in a fight for photographers’ rights, sparked by both incidents such as that above, whcih are becoming more common, and the police’s recent anti-terror publicity campaign which I’ve reported on previously.
